CLIMATE CHANGE - If we are to avert catastrophic climate breakdown, declaring the emergency isn't enough – we need deeds, not words.
The Parish Council at its meeting in September 2019 resolved to declare a climate emergency.
As a result, it was agreed that a Climate Change Working Party be set up to inform, energise and enable Council, its committees and its staff to make greenhouse gas reduction a primary consideration in all its policies, strategies, decisions and actions; to make sure environmental costs are balanced with financial costs in its budgetary considerations; to advise and encourage residents, businesses and visitors to be climate change aware and to advise on the actions the Council can take to reduce their carbon footprint, on effective and meaningful lobbying of Blaby District Council, Leicestershire County Council and UK Government on this important issue and how the Council can work with local, regional, national and international partners to achieve the '2030' goal.
